    How to Perform

    1. 1

Sit on the edge of a chair with your back straight and feet flat on the ground.

    2. 2

Extend one leg straight out in front of you, keeping your heel on the ground.

    3. 3

Lean forward slightly, feeling a stretch in your quadriceps.

    4. 4

Hold this position for 20-30 seconds.

    5. 5

Switch legs and repeat the stretch.

    Pro Tips

    • Point your toes toward the ceiling on the extended leg to add a mild calf stretch along with the quad stretch.
    • Lean forward from the hips with a straight back to increase the stretch on the hamstrings of the extended leg.
    • Sit tall on your sit bones rather than slouching back in the chair to ensure proper pelvic positioning.

    Common Mistakes

    • Slouching in the chair, which rounds the spine and reduces the effectiveness of the stretch.
    • Extending the leg with a bent knee, which doesn't fully stretch the quadriceps or hamstrings.
    • Holding the stretch for only a few seconds instead of the full 20-30 seconds needed for tissue adaptation.
